Put your finger on the bakery and move the glass around.

SECOND STOP

la guacamaya

The guacamaya is the scarlet macaw, the bird that paints Venezuelan skies red, yellow and blue.

They look the same… but they are not! Find the 4 differences.

P.S. A tip: don’t write in the book, so you can play it again and again.

THIRD STOP

fanáticos iguales

La Vinotinto is Venezuela’s national soccer team, named for its burgundy jersey. Its fans look very much alike, so every detail counts.

What is A Ver, A Ver, Venezuela?

It is a book to play together as a family, full of fond nostalgia and winks to Venezuelan pop culture. It has more than 250 seek-and-find games: hidden objects, spot the difference and find the matching pair. Every scene is a place from everyday Venezuelan life, like the bakery, the corner kiosk and the town square. No screens needed.

What age is it for?

Ages 3 and up. Little ones search with some help, older kids play on their own, and the grown-ups start remembering. That is why we say it is for the whole family.

Is it a good gift for a Venezuelan family?

Yes, that is what it was made for. It works for Christmas, a birthday or a visit. Grandparents, aunts, uncles and godparents give it often, because it is a reason to sit down with the kids and say “this is what it was like where I grew up”.

I am not Venezuelan and I want to give it as a gift. Is that a good idea?

A very good one. It tells that family their culture matters to you. You do not need to know Venezuela to give it: they will be the ones telling you the stories.

My kids barely know Venezuela, or speak little Spanish. Will they enjoy it?

Yes. The games are solved by looking, so any child can play. The text is in Spanish and it is short. While they search, they discover new things and a grown-up can tell them what each one is.

What language is it in?

In Spanish, but seek-and-find games speak a universal language. It is a wonderful chance to read to the kids in Spanish and tell them the stories that, I promise, will come back to you.

Where can I buy it and how much does it cost?

It costs $17.99 on Amazon in the United States. It is also on Amazon in other countries, such as Spain, the United Kingdom, Mexico and Canada, and it ships everywhere Amazon delivers. Price and shipping depend on the country. A tip: if you are sending it from one country to another, order from the Amazon closest to where it is going. For example, to send it from the United States to Spain, buy it directly on Amazon Spain. In person, you can find it at Los Andes Foods Market in Katy, Texas.

Can I get the book in Venezuela?

We sent a shipment a few months ago and it ran out: the books went to families affected by the Vargas earthquake. We are working hard to send another one. In the meantime, follow us on Instagram (@averaver_venezuela) so you hear about it.

Do you have to write in the book?

No. A tip: do not mark it, so you can play it again and again and share it. The solutions are at the back of the book.

Is it true the book has music?

Yes, and it is a surprise. The record shop page has a code that opens a playlist of songs from back in the day, to listen to while you play. Turn it up!

Who made the book?

María Fernanda Burgos, her brother Gustavo Burgos and her sister-in-law Ivette Ramírez. All three are as Venezuelan as an arepa.
